We Have Liftoff!
I’m gone! I’ve left! After 8 months of planning, it’s finally happening! Right now! We have liftoff!
I’m sitting in an airport in Frankfurt, Germany trying to wrap my head around the past 24 hours. What have I done?
How did this happen? What does it mean for me?
I’d be flat out lying if I told you that I didn’t second guess the living daylight out of this. I just spent an 8+ hour flight playing tug of war with my brain screaming (inside my head) everything from, “What the hell did I just do?” to “This is the worst decision I’ve ever made in my life!” to “This is the greatest decision I’ve made in my entire life!”
I am terrified, excited, happy, and absolutely downright sad.
Nothing shook me more than the Goodbyes. It was all fun and games at the little going away shindig I had the night before (and an endless thank you to all who came to see me off! I love you all!), but at the airport the Goodbyes were absolutely soul shaking. They were the kind of Goodbyes that make you second guess every choice and decision you made that led you to this point in your life.
And for what? What’s next?
Let me tell you what I’ve got planned, and we’ll see just what comes next together!
At 15:55 (my time which is +7 hours from my old Central Standard Time) I will board a flight from Frankfurt, Germany to Cagliari, Sardinia. I will spend 1 night in that city, sleeping on a very kind stranger’s couch (Thank you Couchsurfing.com!)
From there I’ll take a train tomorrow morning up to Oristano, Sardinia where my first Workaway host has graciously offered to pick me up and bring me to Cuglieri, Sardinia where I’ll be volunteering for her for the month September!
I’m afraid this is all I have time for at the moment. Stay tuned for more updates, and let me know if you have any questions!
Good Luck!!
You are beginning a GRAND ADVENTURE.
It’s a big, wonderful world out there.
Stay safe, have a ball.
I’ll See you sometime, somewhere, in your travels.
After you’re doing this for a couple days the nervousness will wear off and you’re gonna be so happy your doing this…
Ken
